Take a look at the way life is we have more resposibilities and the cost of living has gone up so we have to meet those demands by working double the hours. You also have more single families that are 70% run by women even though you do have some run by single fathers. We also have more going on than what it was in the 50s where one salary took care of a whole household. You have more unemployment and lack of jobs, more people on drugs and criminal behavior has changed the way the world is. You didnt see a lot of what happened today back in the 50s because people had their stuff together and didnt allow that to permeate itself into society.

There wasn't as much stuff to do in the 50's.
Just like the people in the 50's had a more hectic life than the people in the 1800's.

Because life in the 50's was simple. People were satisfied with the little that they had and went on with ordinary lives. Today no one is satisfied, they want more, & more of whatever they seem to think they need or want or got to have. They just want everything at once, those things that took years for people at one time to obtain through hard work. Sometimes they were fortunate enough to get something special and it was cherished. Sometimes they didn't achieve much at all. But all made their own good times and relaxation time together as families, friends, neighbors all together as one. All striving for the same goals. Peace, love and happiness in a simple way. Forget that today. Everything is wanted yesterday and handed on a silver platter to boot. Nothing to see 5 or 6 cars parked in the driveways and all coming and going at different times. No special time for dinner, or time spent as a family unit. That was mandantory at one time.
Now it's rush here rush there just to keep up with the jones, so to speak. Whatever, I said enough........

Because women started wanting to be independent and in that they have sacrificed their children by replacing parenting with things and the lack of time caused by the woman working has brought on the need to buy things to fill the void in their children not to mention the extra expenses required when they are too busy working to do their own housework, clean their own clothes, raise their own children, and of course they must have a second car and every gadget advertised. Everyone wants to be were there parents were after years of marriage, before they get married and have kids so they work away all their free time and youth accomplishing that.

We create our own lives by the choices we make. Wanting to keep up with the Joneses, NOW, is probably one of the biggest reasons that today's world sometimes seems overwhelming.

The chaos leaves in one's live, when we no longer have the need for it.
That's why many rich people...give away...money and their stuff....they no longer have a need for it, and no longer have a need to store it, and no longer have a need to insure it...and so forth.
God is still there after all of that...and lives in us....and waits all day just to hear from us......sometimes he waits until we are old, and sick, and then cry........
Eternity in my book is God Almighty no matter what religion we may follow, or not follow.

Good orderly direction ceased to exist. Families used to go to church together, pray together, play boardgames and watch TV together, with all the gadgets and games, cell phones i pods and computers people isolate more. So the demands to catch up are higher.
