The simple answer is no. There are two types of Laptop HDD's IDE and SATA, much like large desktop comptuers these days. They are not compatable between types, however if you remain in the same type (as long as they are laptop 2.5inch) then yes MOST are interchangable. Provided your BIOS can support it and that the comptuer is capable of supoprting the Drive. Each drive has a slightly different level of power consumption and heat generation so be aware of that too.

BIG no.
There are different thicknesses and different laptops can accept drives up to a certain thickness. Some laptops can only use a drive that is no larger than x gigs, and some laptops use drives with weird pinouts.
Search on the web for your make/model, if they have decent tech support they will tell you over the phone or live chat via the web.
