My grandfather died when I was 8 and I have this very vivid memory of sitting on his lap in their old Lincoln and he would let me "steer the car" like I was driving. I always have remembered it like it was yesterday. I am so thankful that after all those years I still have some memories of him.

The worst would have been easy. The best, I had to think about. This is the best one I could come up with: My first cousin & I grew up on a sawmill yard; that is, our houses were on the outskirts of the yard. The mill was owned by my cousin's father, designed and built by my father. All the workers knew to look out for my cousin & me. We loved to find where the excavators had dug out "ditches" in the yard. We would go into those ditches and build elaborate frog villages in the walls of the ditch. There were rooms, tunnels, everything you can imagine, all in frog-scale. Then we would go and capture frogs to live in our frog villas. It was so much fun! And the forklilft drivers knew better than to mess up our works of art. It was really great.

Coming home on a freezing cold winters day and opening the door to the smell of home baking, been able to sit in the room in front of the roaring fire and have a slice of home made bread with butter dripping from it because it was still warm, my mom was an excellent cook and baker and I really miss that part of my childhood.

Playing football with my older brother. He'd get the ball and me and my littles sister would each chase him and dive for his ankles and he's drag both of us across the yard on our bellies!
Also, my dad built us a mega-huge see-saw and my big brother would get on one end and me and my sister on the other end and when he'd hit the ground we'd go up and our butts would fly up off the seat about a foot and a half in the air! Good times...
