There are too many to name, so it is best to categorize them.
Life needs survival. So, these needs come first. Everything that will cause death if removed is in the first level. Obviously food, water, shelter, oxygen and such.

The second level is about things needed about growth. A place to live and grow, a safe breeding environment, and an environment that allows mates to meet.

The third level concerns success. This means that the first two have been met and there is more to life than living and breeding. Perhaps a moment to sit in the sun and have a bath, and clean one's body or feathers or feelers! Time to explore and find a new home or new better places to live. Time to tour Paris or swarm to a new hive. In human terms, it brings happiness.

;-D Life is worth it. Give it a try!

Asexual creatures dont need sex...so that one's wrong. I would say that - all creatures- need a place in the foodchain. Something has to eat you, and you have to eat someting else. You have to produce or give off something that another creature needs. You wont find any purposeless organism - its sort of a comforting thought isn't it?

Food. Shelter or a very "friendly" environment. Sex, since reproduction is the second priority (the first being survival).
