How about Big Band music, or maybe some smooth jazz? Or maybe something like Enya for during dinner.... Older people appreciate being able to talk and visit over the music.

I've found that instrumental music like Kenny G works best amongst older and younger crowds. A couple of classic easy listenings can work too. Example, Air Supply and Ann Murray!

Go for some Bossa Nova or some other type of mild paced music that's good to dance to, but still isn't too loud as to discourage conversation amungst the guests.
