It's not a question of using skinny models it more that that's all they use. Next time you're out in public take a look at what "real" people look like. Magazines need to cater more toward the average person than the super skinny types. I like what Dove is doing, they use normal looking women in their ads and says they are beautiful.

I think for fashion magazines, skinny girls are perfectly acceptable. Those girls get picked to model clothes because when they walk out on the runway, the clothes are going to be the spotlight, not some big boobs or butt. I think that if they want the runway girls to fatten up, then they should fatten up the mannequins in stores, too. However, in regular magazines, especially women's health magazines I think the women should be "real". Not anything crazy, i'm not promoting being overweight, but real women who really exercise and who really have to watch what they eat. When I look at the cover of a magazine, I'll think, "wow, I want her abs" but deep down, I know she wants them too. Magazines do a lot of magic to their photos, and I guess that's fine, but I think if that girl is good enough to make it to the cover, why does she need to be retouched???

Why, because some professional somewhere thought that it would be a bad influence on impressionable young girls, who think that you can never be too skinny. It doesn't represent the majority of the population. They shouldn't have women on magazines that are fat, but they should be a little curvy. Super-skinny women are just not sexy, and as we all know, sex sells.

I dont say that they shouldnt use skinny models, I just think that they shouldn't use ALL skinny models-they should have women of different sizes. This would represent all.

What is the normal size.Is it the one that majority feel is right for one to have.In this world there are fat people and very skinny people and many of them have tried there best to fit in with the 'normal' people, but the fact that there is no change in there weight must mean that they ARE normal that is how they were created. I want to know who has the marking scheme that says who has normal weight and who doesn't.What makes you think you are normal?!

it just not healthy when a magazine women you hardly know starts to mess with you mind on whats beautiful.
Many women feel like their on a thin line when it comes to healthy dieting and the crash dieting that may give you that thin figure.
It's a helL women go thorough, and some men, in determining when they will even life without concern over how fat they are and when they can finally stop being concerned about it.

It is my opinion that homosexual male designers prefer little girls who look like boys to model their clothing lines. Clothing, as adornment, should be designed to attract the OPPOSITE sex. Look at car and sports magazines to see what attracts men. It's NOT Twiggy and her sisters! Heidi Klum has a real figure, too!

They are supposed to be modeling clothing that normal size people are going to wear. I would rather see what it looks like on someone with a similar build to mine, rather than on someone whose bones are protruding from the dress shoulders.

Because when I look at them I want to tie them to chairs and force feed them potato chips, beef jerky and soda. They're walking a thin line! When I take over the world, it's the first thing...okay the third thing on my list.
