Teens drink irresponsibly and drive under the influence of alcohol. I survived a crash caused by a teen drunk driver. It should stay the same and it is that age from past experiences throughout the U.S. Lots of states raised the drinking age from 18 to 21 in the mid to late 80's due to an increase in teen alcoholism and drunk driving.

They should change it back to 18. If you can drive a car then you should be able to buy beer. That`s the way it use to be but the 2 should not go hand in hand. If I drink I don`t get behind the wheel of a car. And when I was 18 you could buy beer and wine no problem but then they changed the age right after I turned 21. Still you shouldn`t drive if you drink but whats the difference of giving someone a license and letting them drive a car at 16 is like giving some of them a loaded gun. So it`s ok to give someone a 2 ton car to run into someone but they can`t drink. The law contridicks itself. Your considered an adult at 18 but you can`t buy beer or wine . What the!!!

because they need to be more responsible, level headed and mature. at 18, 19 and 20 they are young, dumb and full of.....stupid stunts. all they want to do is party and have fun and not think about the consequences that comes after the wild partying and driving wild to get to the next party. i use to work at the police dept and the age of fatalities was 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 it was nothing for me to receive a call on a Friday night of kids wrapped around a telephone poll, DOA'S because of DUI'S or DWI'S with alcohol blood level high enough to kill them before they crash. i even had calls were kids died from over consumption of alcohol so much in there system that it poison them. Try going to tell a parent that there child is dead from drinking at a party, and the parents telling you that it is impossible because their child does not drink, smoke or do drugs.

young people can't handle the booze!
When I was 18--the state of Indiania had an 18 drinking age -and it was an absolute blood-bath!
I was from southern Michigan and the kids would drive down for the booze and alot never made it back!

One good reason is that the teenage drivers are the most dangerous on the road. They don't need to try to learn to drive while they are drinking.
