Interdisciplinary connections are studies that cross the boundaries of two or more distinct disciplines, such as mathematics and art, music and chemistry, literature and biology.

Cultural cross currents are ethnic or minority group perspectives or responses to knowledge and literature and art of a dominant group, such as "A Latino Perspective on Shakespeare" or "A Korean Feminist Reading of the Gospel of Matthew"

Transhistorical connections are those ideas or meanings that remain valid throughout periods of history and have not become obsolete, perhaps even being "rediscovered" with relevant meaning in contemporary life.
