it is legal tender so dont worry but banks might charge a nominal fee for banking in change so do make sure you have really alot. just imagine a charge of $5 on $20 change. so make it worthwhile. as for departmental and grocery store, unless you are ok with glances from the employees or customers queuing behind you, avoid it.

Yes, but I'd take it to one of the Coinstar machines that issues a full value gift card. Or take it to the bank you bank with and put it in your account. Anyplace that you want to buy something will take the change, but the folks behind you in line will get really grumpy if they have to wait a long time for someone to count your money.

Just take it to RiteAid, Food 4 Less etc...and look for a Coin Star machine. Taking it to the bank takes more time than you taking it to a store and just dump! it into the machine, when the machines counts faster! And your their looking at the coins....seeing how the number goes up and up and up!

well inorder to give the bank change you have to use those paper coin wrappers. And yea, at stores, money is money. I work at a fast food place, and one time someone paid for half of her mael in change(nickels, dimes, and pennies)... it was like $3.00 worth too so don't worry about it, its the employees job to count it anyways

Yes a bank would as long as you take it ready in the coin wrappers and you could ask for those at the bank.

Money is money. But change is a pain in the butt. People don't like to count it out and people don't like waiting in line behind someone when they are counting it out. But either place would accept change because it is money, after all.

they may not like it, but it is money. i think they have to,within reason. dont try to pay with $50 in change. go to the bank or one of those coinstar machines and turn the coins in for cash.
