Depending where you live.
Check out Downtown,L.A Fashion District. There are a bunch of bridal shops that carry bridal gowns and brides maid dress at very inexpensive price. They usually carry a variety of dresses in different style, colors and sizes to accommodate the diff. shapes of your bridesmaids

Ebay, there are tons of them. Go to the stores first and find the style you want and search that exact design on EBay. Remember that almost all wedding dresses need to be altered so be sure to find out the size and if it was altered. Also buy a size larger than you need so you have room to alter it.
For bridesmaids I would have them go to a regular store rather than a bridal shop. The dresses are more interesting and the prices should be better.

ebay has a lot of wedding gowns, often new ones, I've also seen them advertised locally for sale in newspaper classifieds (guess wedding was canceled) Bridesmaids may be a little more complicated if you want matching gowns in different colors, but you can make them, or pick something really simple like a plain sheath, and take the same ebay approach then jazz them up with silk flowers. Lot's of consignment stores will carry used gowns, and anytime you buy used, if it's close to your size, a local dry-cleaner can direct you to an alterations person.

Try Ebay....you can find GREAT deal!! I sold my friends on there the other day for only $175...it was a brand new with tags wedding gown from Davids Bridal, it had the petticoat, gertile/bra, and protecter bag....you can find other great deals like that on there too.....I had formal dresses that I sold for $12, they could make great bridesmaids dresses.....If you don't like Ebay, you might could look into rental too....but more than likely you will want to keep your wedding dress for sentimental reasons!!! Good Luck & Congratulations!

I heard there was a place that was now renting the whole thing from tuxcedo's to the bridesmaid dresses. Just take them back when the wedding is over even the wedding dress.
They dry clean them and use them again.

When my sister-in-law got married several years ago she bought her dresses at a JC Penny outlet store. The selection was amazing and the prices were much lower than what you would pay at a bridal shop. I hope this helps and good luck to you.

The cheapest way is to have some one make them for you. The more dresses the less it is.

Ebay is great for finding wedding dresses... You can get a great bargin and then just have it altered if needed. MUCH CHEAPER! I would suggest looking at places like Chadwicks for your bridesmaid dresses. You may have luck on ebay for those as well.

Make them yourself.
Have your wedding on Halloween and have a costume theme.
For example: If you like Star Trek, wear uniforms for the star-ship.
