DO NOT DO SALT WATER! it works to some small degree but what realy works is to get some mouth wash and hydrogen proxcide and mix them 1/2 and 1/2. this has been proven to be the best germ kiler in the world. my dad used to get strep 3 times or more a year. he has not had itfor 8 years. when he started using this stuff.

1 TAKE A CUP AND FILL IT WITH LUKEWARM WATER 2 ADD 2 TABLE SPOONS OF SALT AND MIX IT WITH THE WATER 3 TAKE A SIP AND GARGLE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THEN SPIT IT OUT 4 REPEAT STEP 3 UNTIL YOU FINISH THE CUP 5 DO STEP 1 - 4 EVERY 3 HOURS AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BETTER IN ABOUT A DAY. This will not only relieve it but will cure it faster than anything! Not going to prevent future sore throats but this always worked for me and it is unbelievable!

Take 2 Tylenol......sore throat is pain too, so Tylenol should help
Gargle with salt water also helps. Salt kills bacteria, so sore throats with lots of bacteria and salt water will help kill some.
Chloraceptic spray does well in numbing the throat, but it can cause a queasy stomach if you swallow too much......and what you spray in your throat does eventually go down to your stomach.
Zinc lozenges work well too. I buy mine at GNC, and zinc has also been shown to reduce a head cold from lasting 10 days to sometimes as little as 4-5 days.
Cold-eez throat drops also contain zinc and are soothing to the throat........but they don't taste that great..........you have to get used to it.
Be careful using the remedy "echineasia" because it has been linked to liver problems and you wouldn't want to solve one problem but create a much worse one.........just be careful and use sparingly.
If you really want to be old fashioned, you could always rub Vick's salve on the outside of your neck and wrap a towel around your neck to keep it warm........some people find that soothing......but other people around you will think you stink......lol.....Vick salve definitely has a strong smell..........but it's strangely a good smell when you are sick.
And, last, but certainly not least........there is always chicken soup. People think chicken soup is only good for the soul.....but there have actually been studies that prove that certain chemicals in chicken broth do soothe the symptoms of sore throats and the common cold.
Hope you feel better soon!

Warm saltwater gargles. Make the water as warm and salty as you can stand it. Gargle several times but DO NOT swallow the water. Repeat this every 2-3 hours. It will help. The saltwater acts as a natural antiseptic. Also take Tylenol and Ibuprofen
for pain. You can take Tylenol and then two hours later Ibuprofen then two hours later Tylenol, etc..
This technique has kept us out of the doctors office numerous times. If your throat is still hurting after 4 days, you start running a fever over 100 degrees, you get a headache with the sore throat or you get white dots in your throat and on your tonsils, go to your doctor. It could be strep-throat and you need antibiotics. Strep-throat can lead to other dangerous things such as rheumatic fever to say nothing of it being contagious.

As nasty as it sounds. If you have any around the house, get some Cod liver oil. It tasted nasty as all ever but it works. Drink teas and orange juices as well. I have been taking a tablespoon of cod liver oil for years. I have only had like 2 colds in the last 10 years. I only had one because i stopped taking it. Take a sppon full once a month in the winter and it will fight off all the colds.

unfortunately, i don't think you can cure it. i think you can only try to lessen the pain until it runs its course.
suggestions:
suck on throat drops,
gargle w/ a baking soda & water mixture,
gargle w/ a water and salt mixture,
take pain killers (acetominophen etc)
throat sprays.

Gargle with warm water and salt. You could also try tea with honey and lemon. Both have worked for me.
