Biuret's Reagent is used to detect polypeptides and proteins. It reacts with the peptide bond. Amino acids in solution contain no peptide bonds to react.

Because Biurets Reagent only reacts with protein. I guess it can react with amino acids only if they're in a Polypeptide chain to MAKE a protein, but it can't react to the Amino Acid by itself....i think :D
