There is probably a local ordinance that addresses whether the notifying of your customers is required, but from visiting many stores, it is very common to see "Smile! You're on camera!" types of signs that inform people in a sort of light hearted way......like the others have said...it could serve as a deterrent to shoplifting or other illegal behaviors.

obviously you cna't videotaped them in bathrooms, dressing rooms, etc. but no you don't have to tell them. Stores post signs as a deterent to theft, not because they are required by law to do so

It depends on what kind of business you have.
If it's a convenience store or some type of retail, no; if it is a tanning salon or some place where they are expected to remove their clothes, (say a try-on room), then yes, you have to let them know.

yes, that's better, in fact, if they know they are being videotaped they will be more scared of doing anything wrong. don't think so?

i believe you do, but a small sign or plaque right inside the door will do just fine with something like "these premises are subject to video survallience" or semthing like that
actually...i don't think you do unless your going to atempt to use that video in court or soemthing and the other attorney might say "it wasn't made known blah blah blah" and you might not be able to use the video anymore

i am not sure what the law is where you live, but where I am from, the stores post signs that say video serve-lance or a picture of a video camera, and the sign is usually posted by or on the entrance door.

It depends on where they are being video taped. If it is in a dressing room or restroom, definitely tell them.

Its actually better that they know, makes them less likely to do something wrong. Store down my street has two fake but very visible cameras
