I was on depo before and I didn't like it very much. It has high hormone levels and made me gain weight pretty quick. Anyways, I got off because my hubby and me wanted a baby. I am 35 weeks pregnant and planning on getting on birth control again. I just want some ideas on birth controls people have had experience with. I do want more kids in the future, just not right now. Can you give me any ideas?

If you are looking at the pill - tricyclen lo was about the only one that worked for me - hormone levels low enough but not too low. Sometimes it is nice not to have the worry about taking the pill everyday though. Depending on when you are thinking about having another baby the IUD is a pretty effective method that you don't have to fuss over. Talk to your doc. It all depends on what you are looking for in a birth control method. He/she would have the best advice to give you after considering what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

I know they have a bad rep, but you might try an IUD. I've had one for nearly a year and love it. They have a nearly 100% effectiveness, and make life easier--no pills, patches, rings, diaphragms, sponges, condoms or spermicide.

The Mirena (lasts 5 yrs) has a low amount of progestin in it to make the lining of the uterus unable to accept an egg, and over time makes your pds really light. The hormone doesn't enter the blood stream at all, so it won't cause weight gain or mood swings like the pill.
There are others which will last for up to 10 yrs. It can be implanted in the dr's office in about 2 minutes, and can just as easily be removed if you so choose.
Most drs won't advise one unless you've had at least one baby b/c it's easier to insert the IUD.

I took the birth control pill for 6.5 years, Loestrin 1.5/30. Never had a problem with it and got pregnant the month I quit it. I never gained weight or had headaches.

Before I got pregnant I used to take Mircette and I didn't gain an ounce b/c it had low hormone levels.
