Vinegar is an inexpensive and environmentally safe herbicide favored by organic gardeners. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has tested the effectiveness of vinegar. To read its findings, go to ars.usda.gov and type the word "vinegar" in the search field.

I have also used a homemade weedkiller that uses vinegar and salt. You need 1 gallon of white vinegar, 1 cup of table salt and 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. To create the weedkiller, remove approximately 2 cups of vinegar from its container and set it aside, pour in the salt and dishwashing liquid, then return the 2 cups of vinegar to the container. Cover with a lid and shake to mix. Pour into a spray bottle. Safe and easy to use.

Lay newspaper around your plants, right over the weeds. Then top off with a layer of mulch. The paper will smother the weeds, & eventually break down & add compost to the soil, & feed the earth friendly worms too!
Whadda deal, whadda deal!

Get a kettle and boil some water and water the weeds with it. It kills them and then they are easily removed. It has to be very hot (boiling) so be careful.
