from someone who has purchased excesssive amounts of makeup from every brand, i have found that Mary Kay is very poor quality compared to other brands. It seems like everything is so nice in the catalogue and when the consultant is describing it, but its NOT. And dont get sucked in by the free stuff!
the eyeshadows are very chalky and have terrible color pay off.
The foundations are oily and cause breakouts.
The facewash is waaaaay to expensive for something that doesnt do more than a bar of soap.
The mascara is clumpy, and i noticed it dries out faster than any other mascara i have ever bought.
The makeup brushes are horrible quality, and shed like no other.

If you want to spend the money go with lancome or clinique facial care
and Mac, nars, or bobbi brown cosmetics. These get thumbs up

I do buy it, the eyeshadow. But it is much easier to buy cosmetics from places like walmart, you can take your time and compare prices and also you can buy it any time. You don't have to find a Mary Kay rep to buy it and if she doesn't have it in stock, then there is that wait to order it. You have more choices if you buy it elsewhere. There are expensive makeup brands at discount stores too.

it depends on your idea of expensive. Clinique, Lancome and other department store brands are expensive too, but if it works for you and you love it, buy it. I personally love my Mary Kay cosmetics, but I know they aren't for everyone. Stick with what works for you

I use the eyeliner pencil, it is the best, it's waterproof and it stays on but on the other hand I don't use any of the other Mary Kay products, they are too perfumey and I break out from them. I have seen alot of bad complexions from Mary Kay. Use what your skin is used to.

you don't need every single item that you use to be from just one brand. I like to mix and match. Like, I absolutely LOVE Mary Kay concealer, but I love Stila eyeshadow, and Body Shop powder foundation....So Mary Kay is not expensive for me, and the tube of concealer I get lasts FOREVER...Like a year.

the mary kay consultant buys the product at half the price they sell it for. so if the book says its 50$ the person your buying it from is only paying 25$ then they made 25$ off of you. thats why I dont buy it

Just say no. I love Mary Kay cosmetics but they are pricey. If you don't want it say no.

I don't know how much the stuff costs, but I know it's junk. If they really are expensive, you're better off getting i.d. or Lancome. I knew a girl who used Mary Kay and her makeup always looked cheap and fake.

Mary Kay has too much fragrance and broke out my face. No it is not expensive. I wear MAC now it is expensive, but worth it.
