one of the problems is 8129/51.....

are there easy ways to explain long division and make it easier for her??? i am starting to lose my patience.

Talk her through it until she can do it on her own. Ask her if 51 can go into 8. Then into 81. It can... Try using coins; give her 51 cents and then add 3 dimes to make it 81. You get 51 once (mark a 1 above the sideways L) and then what is left? One times is 51 is 51. 81 - 51 is... show her by taking away the 51 cents.
Hope that it helps with the visuals.

My teacher always made us write a multiplication sign at the corner of the problem (like if you think of it as a sideways "L"... So if the problem was 246/8 you would look at it as 8 times what number would equal or be close to the two....none. Next 8 times what would equal 24....answer 3...so you put the three on top. If it wasn't the exact number, you write what it does equal and then subtract. Keep dropping numbers down and subtracting until you run out of numbers. Boy is that difficult to type out and try to make sense. Sorry if I was unclear.
