How does values education help prevent natural human tendency towards self-aggrandizement

If you teach kids to respect themselves and others, and earn their way, you won't get nearly as much BS from them as the kids that are taught to have 'high self esteem' without ever accomplishing, finishing or earning anything.
No matter what some people think, allowing kids to learn that there are indeed winners and losers prepares them for real life.
