I use old CDs for palettes when painting with oil or acrylic paints (artwork, not woodwork). It does not matter if I do not clean them when I have finshed or if the paint dries too quickly when I am painting as I can simply throw the CD out and use another one.

So they don't end up as landfill, I take my unwanted CDs to our local recycling site. They're (apparently) melted down and reused to make other plastic-based items. Many of the suggestions here only postpone the disposal process, which eventually has to be done. Just how long can a person tolerate shiny CDs flitting about in the sunshine on a tree branch? Birds soon realise that the shiny object is no threat to them.

With a bag full of cd's and using peel-offs and stickers etc. (designed for card-making) I made Christmas decorations to dress the set of a play I was working on - they looked so good a lot of us used them at home!

Hi,place two side by side and glue together. Then glue two lollipop sticks(or similar) to the ouside edge of both cd's and hey presto!...a pair of designer shades that Elton John would be proud of!!! You can either start up your own business selling them to the rich and famous,or you can just put them on ebay...people will buy any old crap off there.

I one time epoxied glass beads around the outside rim and use them under my chrystal candle sticks. They reflect the light from the flame of the candles also catch any wax drips from going on your table cloth.
My Pastor's daughter covered one of her walls in her bedroom with them it turned out really neat and also reflected the light from the ceiling.
I also broke them up and used them to do mosaic type Christmas ornaments.

String them together and make a doorway hanging. Make a feature wall by using bluetac and adhering them to a wall.
