Yes, anything is better than that New Yawk snake oil salesman Bettman. Hockey has lost it's heart trying to be the next NBA.

I can't really picture this. Wayne has a lot of NHL experience, whether it be playing (he was THE best), coaching (not that great, but he put in some years), and much more. Wayne have been the best player, but that does not mean in any circumstance that he knows how the league works more than any other player. A lot of ex-NHL players out there, who were by no means better than Wayne, have more knowledge on what it means to be THE COMMISSIONER, which is a huge role. To have this job you need to be a very educated person, have a lot of time and you must have a general background on the business world, and how everything the commissioner does works. He might have been "the best", but this does not mean he is fit for this job.

NOOO I'm an Oilers fan and we desperately need Kevin Lowe, I don't want him to leave yet. But they would make a great combination, maybe they can help out the deprived Canadian hockey team market and put some teams in Halifax and Winnipeg. I think those two cities need teams.

10-20 yrs down the road maybe; give him a few years as a coach and build a team (coyotes for now); the Coyotes will fall short this year of the playoffs but give Gretsky five yrs in Phoenix as coach then let him decide what he wants to do next and not until then. He is too young to be comish

I think it could be a feasible transaction for Gretzky, he is very professional and I can kind of see that he has a business savvy head on his shoulders. Why not give it a whirl!!!

No., I think he is a great spokesperson and role model for hockey but I don't think he has the 'business sense' to be commissioner

I can see Gretzky as the new Commish, eventually and, pardon the pun, I think it'd be great.

I think he is a great player but I think he needs to know the business side to run the commission
