How comes my iPod Nano isn't working correctly?

Ok, I keep trying to charge my ipod, but it won't charge. There is nothing wrong with the wires. and my ipod updates, but won't charge. Does anyone have a clue what is wrong? Please help.

make sure it is turned off first. Sometimes this works, if not....
