Ownership of the canal was given back to Panama in 2000. I don't know if Panama has contracted to other countries however...

ok, the ACP (autorida del canal de panama) I used to work there for 2 months ands its soo damn cool, ACP authority of panama canal,
Panama its not in charge of the canal, its a company that its not part of the goverment, the ACP only administrate canal funds, and by the way in panama its so hard to get a job at the ACP because they pay 3 times more that somewhere else,
oh and the general manager of the ACP its the first one to be at the office belive that! hes a great manager!

Don't believe Dennis, he's lying. The nation of Panama is in possession of the Panama Canal.

Unfortunately, Panama, but I don't know what year it went back to them. Somewhere in the 80s, I think.

Panama because the U.S. turned it over to them since it was built in Panama. There is now controversy over whether to make it bigger because some ships are bigger and it cannot handle them.
