there's a ton of stuff on line and in the library but here are some generalities:

1) paved roads. the romans were the first to lay them, their still in use today and they are the model for today's roads.

2) the romans built the first aquaducts and we have running water today because of them. we owe our plumbing system to the romans. before the time of jesus, you had running water on the first floor of most buildings, how cool is that? I think they went as high as two but you'd have to check on that.

3) our modern legal system is based on the ancient roman system.

4) the romans were master architechts ( sure I spelled that wrong) and look around to see how many buildings copy them. the post offices, courthouses are classic ancient roman design, look at the columns.

5) arena sports, the gladiator matches in the roman colusseum were the inspiration for today's area sports like football, hockey and wrestling.

if you search on google or ask your librarians you'll find this same stuff. good luck and peace!

Look at the links below to get some background information about the Roman Empire and its contributions to the modern world, but don't copy it word for word. If you look at the links below (or perhaps, in your school history book) you will see that many things/ideas originated in the time of the Romans that are still in place today. For example, the type of calendar we now use originated in Roman times.

sounds like the essay I didn't write on my World History AP exam last year. I think talking about their government would be a good idea.

I also agree because Rome had many modern ideas and inventions if it weren't for those inventions our world might be different.
