you duplicate items the same way you do it in real life - that is, you don't
you were never supposed to be able to duplicate items in the first place.
what item are you trying to duplicate, perhaps i can help you find another way to obtain one

u can't duplicate items anymore on pokeymon emerald it only works on the older versions of pokeymon

i dont think you can duplicate items on pokemon emerald but to make sure you can visit gamefaqs.com and check in the cheats section. pokemon emerald was made with better technology making it harder to cheat on it unless you use a action replay. you can duplicate items on silver and gold. i dont think you can do it here but its worth a visit to gamefaqs, gamespot, cheatplanet, or any other video game cheat web site. hope it helps.

Use a gameshark(to duplicate the first Item in your bag ). Otherwise......you don't.
PS: a gameshark Could mess up your game completely if used too many times.
