If you could have a real job instead of just waiting tables and jobs like that, or would you still try to act instead? (This isn't something that applies to me, I was just curious)

I'd want to go to school to get a degree in something - anything - that I could fall back on when I was done with acting. Because in this day and age, people can only act until they get to a certian age. Have you noticed that there are more older men than women still accepted as actors (not to mention they get the jobs more, whens the last time you saw an older woman actress win an award or star in a really capativating role?). Some actors have degrees in one thing or the other anyway. You never know when your stardom will plummet to zero and you'll need another way to make money other than doing telecommercials.

This question made me laugh. In other words, "If you were SMART, and could actually manage to get a REAL job, would you still be an ACTOR?"

Without exception, the best and most talented actors I've known over the years have been highly intelligent men and women. Most of them were excellent students, and could have landed in any number of more conventional working environments. If they didn't, it's because they chose not to.

I don't think you necessarily have to be a barking failure in school in order to succeed in acting! Do what makes you happy. If it doesn't work out, there is always time for college these days. It's not just for kids any more!

I graduated Cu m Laude from my college, and I'm going into theater. I can have a "real" job AND act. It doesn't have to be one of the other.
