We will be more enlightened and in touch with our inner selfs. College will be free and classes will not give grades.
We will have grown past our evil, oil burning, horribly rude, SUVs that kill in cold blood, tens of people with cancer every year.
We will not even know the race or religion of a friend and we will only talk endlessly about the community and how we can work to eliminate any polarizing properties it may have.
We will love Oprah even more and we will elect her as president. We will eat only pills and every person on earth will take yoga.
We will forget the words 'no', 'wrong', 'right', 'war', and 'evil'.
Everyone will see the great benefits of fuzzy sweaters. and wearing work gloves when you ride on your lawn mower, (which will be electric of course).
We will have an international holiday called "Diversity day" on which we are all are the same and no one points out anything "defining" about anyone else.
We will all be democrats.

based on what we could do in 1986 vs now:

Artificial intelligence becomes available for the wealthy.
People will have PDA's that are the equivalent of secretaries.

Huge AI's in control of the governement will have begun working on problems not yet solved.

Research into Nuclear Fusion results in a working prototype, promising relief from 500 dollar a barrel oil

Widespread use of superconductors begins as reliable ones that work at -65 degrees F come into use. Certain industries see a renaissance as energy costs begin to nudge downwards for the first time in decades

Electric cars become affordable as batery technology improves.

Thanks to global warming electric cars become effective even in Alaska.

Manned missions to Mars spark a new space race, but the real money is in the development of asteroid mining.

Robotic miners equipped with AI allow the US to regain economic primacy as India and China suffer from internal political instability due to both aging populations and demand for civil rights.

Islamic terrorism all but wiped out by secular Islamic countries with not tolerance for economic destabalization.

Plastic surgery becomes near flawless and the Olympics stop drug testingas geneticly modified athletes become the norm.

Cars not running on oil, the Bush family begging for welfare, the red sox winning at least five world series, Tom Cruise outed and cured of scientology, people cured from stem cell research, the US no longer dependant on oil, the end of reality tv, serious pollution reduction, population decreasing enough for resources to catch up, personal investing virtually illiminating poverty, rap a memory and blues and southern rock the primary music preferences. And France being nice and pleasant.

-man on mars
-station on the moon
-detonated nuclear weapon in anger
-advancements in nanotechnology
-surgical implants in people that improve our vision, give us better memory, link us directly to computers, etc
-female president and black president


-POSSIBLY tractor trailors that drive themselves. There are already some factories that load the trucks themselves. and so they might be loaded, driven across the country, and unloaded all by computer. This would create a HUGE loss of good jobs in our country.

Most would have taken up urban life and practice birth control. Fewer would be dependent on fossil fuels. All good things, if it wasn't too late by then.
