My friends parents are kinda abusive but not towards him really but towards eachother like his parents fight constantly by hitting eachtother and cursing and he doesnt know wht to do and not only that but his dad has an illegal job and he hides the money from the goverment. and his mom has tried everyhting to get a divorce but its not working. And plus she doesnt have the money to pay for a divorce there kinda poor.

Have you talked to your parents about it? How about a school counselor? You're right: it's not a healthy environment -- no one can benefit from being in a household like that. I think that you should start by talking to your parents about the situation, and maybe someone at school. Your friend is lucky that you are thinking of them. There are many child/spouse-abuse resources available in nearly all communities that can help your friend and his parents. (And, just so you know, most states have free divorce programs). Good luck.

If it's as bad as that, and his mother wants out...she can go to any Office Depot or Office Max store (any office supply store type place) and get a 'divorce kit'. They cost around $25. She fills out the papers herself, and files them with the courts. It could cost her around $250 or so, but it's cheaper than having a lawyer file.
He can call your local teen hotline if he needs to talk about this with someone. They may be able to help.

you need to be there for your friend and his mom and help both of them out of a bad situation. as a kid, theres nothing you can do except tell your parents. they are adults and will be able to take care of ti by calling the cops. if you dont feel comfortable talking to your parents, then go to the cops yourself. dont call 911, but call their other number or go down to the station. you wouldnt want your friend or his mother to end up seriosly injured because you didnt take action. good luck!
