Went on a cruise in April and Belize was one of our stops. From what I can tell you...Belize is a place one should visit in the Carribean, plus Costa Maya and Cancun is not too far to visit for a day trip or a night over. The city is great, people are really nice and there is so much to do other than shopping. For ex. my family and I went on a cave tubbing and Zippling trip. It took the whole day...but it was loads of fun. Also try to take a trip to a Mayan Ruins if you like a little history of the people and the place. If you go shopping, lots of deals in jewerly, make sure you bargain, most of the time they will take your price, if not go to another vendor....you might actually finds something even better. And if your there try the ceviches at Senior Frog....the best! Just remember to bring lots of Sun screen and drink lots of water. The weather is very hot and humid.

P.S. if your ever thinking about going to Cancun in Sept. in the future (just got back from there this past weekend), go! =) Still hot and humids, but less people, no worries finding a great place on the beach! Just make sure you watch the weather for any hurricanes. We were suppose to go to Puerto Vallarta, but decided to go to Cancun instead, and guess what we got lucky. There was a hurricane in Puerto Vallarta. But the weather was sunny and bright in Cancun. Thanks goodness!! lol =) Cancun area is a little like Vegas but without the gambling (long strip of Hotels) and all the shopping and beautiful beaches you ever want to swim in.

Have fun in Belize if you go!!

It depends on where you go and what you do. The diving there is spectacular...nearly as good as the Great Barrier Reef. You can go on a dive boat and learn to dive, if you don't already know how. The boats carry all equipment you'll need, just bring a bathing suit.

There's a wonderful Mayan temple site north of Belize City, which is interesting and an easy trip by car or taxi.

Ecotourism is growing in Belize, and there's a lot to see. The beaches are also great....but Belize City is kind of disappointing, so going for the nightlife there will be a letdown.

I think you'd have a great time there. Decide what you want to do. I was on a liveaboard dive boat for 5 days, and did some traveling outside Belize city too. Have fun!

Paradise. But don't stay on the mainland...take a puddle jumper or quick boat/ferry and stay on Ambergris Caye. It's the second best kept secret in the Caribbean. US Airways offers direct Flight to Belize now.
