I have an older Windows 98 computer and I'm working on upgrading it as a personal project. Now I got it from a Midas car repair shop and I think it had a netowork on it. Because of this if i change just about anything it reconizes that as a registry problem and fixes it right back where it was...!!! >:-/ How do i get rid of this so I can start to change some settings and so I can upgrade things?!

theres a way to reformat the hd without losing windows useing a key command durring booting its diffrent from manufacturer to manufacturer. try pushing all the f buttons durring loading untill you find it or contact the manufacturer (if there is one but if your working on it it could be white box and has no manufacturer) on our HP it was f8 or f9 i would try those first. once it is reformatted it will act like a new pc with a stock reg and that pesky program (probbly an older versin of mcafee viris scan pro) that causes the problem.
