R stands for relationship

It could also stand for ratio

Since variables are one letter, something like CR (constant relationship) would not be appropriate. Also C is more famously used as the speed of light in E=MC^2 and might confuse people thinking the speed of light or another variable was involved with the equation.

Probably no extra credit for you. I am not certain; I suspect that by the time physicists decided they needed a symbol for the thing, they were running out of letters and simply picked one that had few other uses.

i don't probable understand. i'm noticeably specific it somewhat is purely by utilising convention. actual, lots of the constants in the actual technological know-how international (and math) are style of obtainable. Wait until you get to physics. 3-quarters of the constants in physics are the letter ok.
