If you do not plan to have any more children then you could skip the Rhogam shot but I wouldn't advise it! That is because if you make the Anti-D then that antibody will remain in your circulation forever. If you ever have surgery it will cause a lot of extra work in antibody identification and crossmatching to get blood ready if you need it. The extra charges will be passed on to you and these are much greater than the cost of Rhogam. If you are ever in an accident and need blood in an emergency and there is no Rh negative blood available then giving you Rh positive blood could kill you by causing a delayed transfusion reaction. There has been a nation wide blood shortage every summer and where I work we had to give Rh positive blood to patients that were Rh negative on 2 different occasions to save their life. If they'd already made the antibody then we'd have been up a creek!
Another complication - if you ever need an organ transplant, having an Anti-D could complicate things.

PS - you have a 50:50 chance of having another Rh negative child if they have the same father - cause if all three have the same dad then dad must be heterozygous for the Rh gene and have one O gene and one B gene - so he must be B pos. :)

Why don't you call and ask your Dr. this very important question? Even if it's just for the sake of your baby. Good luck

I'm sorry but I have no clue what to say. You should have had the shot already. Congrats on the new baby.
