Think of your eyes like your nose.

Imagine you like to keep used chewing gum in your nostril, just for keeps.

Your friend doesn't have an gum, and would like a peice. You gladly take it out of your nose, and she puts it in hers. Later she chews it.

That about covers it.
-----
Your eyes share an open passage to the back of your nose for drainage. Have you ever seen a kid who can "cry" milk? They are blowing milk the wrong way up that passage. Guess what, snot can do that do. Like when you blow your nose hard.

Sure maybe only a few germs get in. But eyes are germ magnets of their own. Like when you wake up first thing in the morning and have eye "crusties"... that is mucus from your eye, that has caught dust and debries during the day, and is now being swept out of your eye.

Would you take an "eye crusty" from your friend and put it in your eye? How about in your glass of water you are gonna drink? Your mouth? Your nose? An open cut?

Hello? Am I gettin to ya? Is it making sense...
Every one has their own cooties, and you don't want to share.

You could get an eye infection, and ulceration of the cornea, you could catch an actual disease, since the eye is a mucus membrane. If you don't have the same prescription one of you could damage your vision and get headaches.

All around it is a bad idea. I can't think of a "good" reason to do it. I would rather walk around blind than get a disease. ... Before you say, my friend is clean - she would never...blah blah blah. Listen EVERYONE thinks "not my friend".

But if everyone thinks that, then who's friend does have the diseases... Is it one friendless guy in a cave somewhere? No, not really, since diease only spread through *contact* with other people. i.e. Friends, Family, Aquantances, Sexual Partners, etc.

I love my friends, but they make dumb choices about things sometimes... easy to miss something like washing your hands one time, or "he was so cute"...

Your choice here, is to say "I'm going to protect my self, by erring on the side of caution." If you are her friend, you should encourage her to be more cautious to.

I don't mean to be harsh, but I have seen too many smart people make dumb choices, trying to save a buck, or do two things at once...

Do it right, the way things are meant to be used, the way things are meant to be done, then you know you are doing good.

No, don't do that! You two probably have different prescriptions, so you won't be able to see out of it! It could be ... unsanitary.
