My opinion is kind of split on this...
The logical side of me says that there could be so such thing as a coincidence - people make choices and events just happen around us.
The "right-brain" side of me like to entertain the idea that things fall into place for a reason. It kind of takes some of the responsibility off my shoulder when I think that I got into that car accident for a reason - maybe to collect the car insurance and get a new ride - who knows!
Makes life seem like a movie or something and we're all just playing a part, waiting for our queues. My queue was to answer your question, "Do coincidences happen for a reason?" and your queue was to award me with the best answer :)

If they happened for a reason that would imply some plan run by an outside force capable of manipulating time, space and human actions - a almost classical description of 'God'. As their is not a shred of evidence to support the theory of 'God' it is reasonable to assume coincidences do not happen for a reason. Indeed, most coincidences only appear to be coincidences because of the narrow way we view the world of the way it works.

You are asking two questions here. First of all if there is any coincidence and if everything happens for a reason or not?. If there is conincidence then there is no reason. If there is a reason for everything then there is no coincidence.
