All law is divided into three areas. Criminal law, where the govt punishes you for doing something, administrative law, where you are trying to convince the govt to do something for you, and civil law, which resolves disputes between two (or more) parties.
Civil law is further broken up into contract law and tort law. Contract law is based on agreements between people. Tort law is where someone gets punished for hurting someone else, but rather than being punished by the govt (as in criminal law), the party who is injured is the one who brings the lawsuit.

A civil law suit is where the two parties (Plantiff is the one/s that sue/s the other party; Respondent is the one/s being sued) go to Court and appear before a Judge asking him to hear both sides of the issue and make a decision. Usually the Plantiff seeks monetary compensation from the Respondent (ie, back rent, car repairs, etc.). A civil suit is different from a criminal one, in which a crime was committed (Plantiff is the State; Respondent is the person who committed a crime). Hope this helps.
P.S. Watch Judge Joe Brown or Judge Alex or Judge Judy for a more detailed explanation.

The best "civil laws suites" are in the penthouse of the Magna Carta in England. Sir William Blackstone freqents. Getting pics might be difficult, however Sir William's Commentaries are extensive.
Check the link below, I think this might cover it for you.

Here is an example: "EXAMPLE
Gail runs a printing business. Richard specially ordered 40,000 printed portfolios for a convention. The printing was delayed because the vendor for the portfolis failed to deliver them to Gail promptly. Richard had to pay extra shipping and handling charges to assure the portfolios went out on time. He wants Gail to pay those costs and compensate him for the extra work he did in getting the portfolios to the convention."
I think this link will be very helpful to you.

You need to do an English project first. A suite is usually a fine room in a hotel, pronounced sweet.
