James Patterson because his books are so enthralling and his stories always have exciting action and great romance. He writes mysteries. He's most famous for his Alex Cross books and his The Women's Murder Club books. He also written a number of other novels, such as "Sam's Letters to Jennifer," "The Beach House," "The Lake House," and "When the Wind Blows," which are all great books for any mystery fan. I got done reading "Mary, Mary," the last book in the Alex Cross series, a couple of months ago, and I cannot wait for the next one to hit bookstores.

Terry Goodkind:
He writes fantasy, but it's got a lot of drama and a more realistic story then most of the fantasy books. Some parts of the ongoing saga (The first ones called Wizard's First Rule) are pretty heavy and gruesome, but his writing is also beautiful at times.

Dan Brown.
He is the author of the Da VInci code [the best novel in the world], Angels and demons, deception point, digital fortress etc.
They are mostly crime fiction and involve a lot of code breaking and puzzles, resolving around suspicious murders and religious conspiracies [particularly in the Da vinci code and angels and demons].
They are such thrilling and exciting books to read, i highly recommend, especially reading the Da vinci code if you have not done so already.

David Eddings. He develops his characters and plots really well. He also has a dry sense of humor. He's written a few series: The Belgariad, The Mallorean and The Tumuli are the ones I've been fortuneate enough to get my hands on.

Definitely Stephen King. Obviously he's known for his horror thrillers. The reason I think he's the best is because every one of his books is a "page turner".
