This answer is up in the air - some say they walked , others claim they came in boats or on barges. Others even say they were always here (that the continents drifted apart). I even read once that they may have come from another planet. So, take your pick (some are more realistic than others).

Gigantic catapults were erected in Portugal. Of course the continents were closer at that time but still, it was a bold endevor. Many of these early pioneers did not make it across but we owe them a great debt nonetheless.
