You should visit your family doctor first to see if there are any signs of injury - swelling, discoloration, etc. Is there any visible bruising? Is it hot to touch (sign of damage)? The neck has many joints (vertebrae), so it's easy to injure bone, muscle, etc. Your family doctor should be able to help you or refer you to another doctor who can help. I would avoid a chiropractor until you make sure there isn't a serious injury.

If your head still hurts you need to do something. See a doctor if you are having headaches or are experiencing strange psychological phenomena. If your only problem is your neck, see a massage therapist who is qualified. Check for credentials. There are way too many prostitutes disguised as massage therapists. Crack down and report the ones that are not licensed.

DO NOT EVER see a chiropractor for injuries, unless directed to do so by your doctor!!!!!! Go see your PCP first, and most likely he/she will direct you to an orthpedic specialist if the injury cannot be treated with pain meds, such as when there is a break or bad sprain.

A DR that has access to a x-ray machine. A D.O. verses a M.D. would be a good choice. I would demand a x-ray though, 3 weeks is a long time to be in pain. Not to scare you but you could have a hairline fracture. GO TO THE DR

First of all g to your primary doctor and have him/her take a look. He/she might refer you to a spin Doctor, Chiropractor, Neuro-surgeon possibly. There could be any number of doctors to see based on what you primary Doctor deems is appropriate. He might even send you home with just a neck brace and have you take pain meds.

First off, do not see a chiropractor if you have not been properly diagnosed by a physician first. I would recommend starting with your family doctor first. They can do x-rays if need be, and determine who you should see from there, or prescribe treatment.

first try a chiropractor, usually a simple adjustment or two will do the trick. if not, then you need to see a specialist.
