does anybody know what's the normal temperature for an intel core 2 duo processor to run at? is 70 degrees Celcius too hot? Will my processor have a reduced life it I run at that high of a temperature?

The thermal specification for the hottest point on the die on average for optimum performance is around 60C - 70C for all core 2 duo processors. You are running alright. People often confuse newer processors with older processors which run less cycles per minute / second then newer ones, meaning it will actually temp A LOT lower then your newer processors. They also confuse the fact that older processors are A LOT bigger and more widespread then newer ones which are more compressed and smaller (meaning it will also get a little bit hotter,) It wont have a shorter lifespan because its at normal temperature. You can keep it cooler (if you like) by adding more case fans and increasing circulation (keep it off the floor, keep it out of an enclosed desk, and dint keep it close to a wall.)

70 degrees celcius is far too hot, and a processor that run hot, is overclocked, or is always running will probably have a shorter life span. To answer how to know the temperature, you can find that in the BIOS, or you can download a program, for example, core temp, which will give you an approximate temperature of your cpu. it should be at about 40 celcius could you plz tell me how you know temperature
