There is no right or wrong answer to this really. It is when it feels right for the woman! The optimum age in a healthy female is between 24 and 28. After age 30 the fertility rate starts to gradually decrease and really decreasing after mid thirties. There are blood tests your doctor can do to advise you on how good your ovarian reserves are. The blood test would need to look at Follicle stimulating Hormone

Most people I know either had their kids early, then when their kids were grown they were still young enough to get their careers back on track (or go off travelling or having advertures), or they did their career/adventure thing in their twenties and early thirties, then settled down to have kids.
