The only quote I remember is:

"The tanner's daughter's bastard son." The main hero is refered to as this by his home town and himself....he later finds out why he has no father...the tanner had wed his own daughter...it was a really good book and now I just can't seem to find it.

There was also a girl who was a seer and she was, in the beggining of the story, belled from head to toe because the town was in fear of her.
