I was shocked to see my old rabbit try to f**k her. Realise that it is a 'he' not 'she'. The pet shopkeeper misinformed me when i bought him back 2months ago. So, i return the girl rabbit and bought a boy rabbit. Surprisingly, he tries to f**k him too .. :S .. Oh my God, is he a sex addict or what? I've returned the boy rabbit as well, what should i do? Does this mean that he will need to live by himself for his whole life? I don't really want to desex him as it is very costly. Thanks.

Rabbits will mount to establish dominance when a new rabbit comes in, even if they are altered.

I would not introduce another rabbit until you get your current rabbit fixed and read up on how to do a proper rabbit introduction to prevent injury. The cost is not horrible and there are health and behavior benefits. Adding an spayed female at this point could result in unwanted pregnancy and add to the rabbit overpopulation problem- but two unneutered males could become very aggressive and injure each other.

Most rabbits do love the company of their own kind though and are very social, so you might want to look into neutering your boy and perhaps adopting an already altered rabbit from a rabbit rescue. A majority of rabbit rescues (and some shelters) alter their bunnies before adoption and even have a “dating service” to find your rabbit a friend they are compatible with. I never saw my rabbits happier than when playing and cuddling with their bunny friends. (all were fixed)

First of all, the people at pet stores are not good at telling the sex of the animal unless they have been properly trained to do so. Most are not. Never take the word of the pet stores. Learn yourself how to distinguish the sex and do so yourself.

The first rabbit was only humping the second male as a sign of dominance. When a new male was introduced the original was showing himself to be the alpha, sex really had nothing to do with it. This is something that actually happens quite frequently in the animal kingdom.

Rabbits hump each other as a show of dominance, even females will do it. Rabbits also need time to bond, you can't just throw them into a cage together and expect them to get along. Two boys can get along okay, two females may grudgingly get along but will usually not be happy about it. Your very best bet is a male and a female. You need to make absolutely sure what sex your bunnies are, then have them both fixed.

I don't care that it is costly. When you sign up to have a pet, you sign up to take care of them properly, and with rabbits, having them fixed is necessary if you want them to live together in harmony. Also, for female rabbits, if left unspayed they WILL develop uterine cancer and die, it is only a matter of time. So check with your local humane society, where you may be able to get a cheaper price for the fixing, but do the right thing.

Please do find a companion for your bunny, though. Bunnies bond for life and they are soooo much happier in a bonded pair. Check with local rescues and see if they have bunnies yours could meet. You have a better shot at picking a companion they'll get along with that way.

You need to read about rabbits. Just because a rabbit tries to hump another rabbit it doesn't mean its about sex. it means the rabbit is trying to dominate the other rabbit. Did you just throw the first rabbit into the same cage with it. Bonding is a slow process. Read the House Rabbit Handbook and go to this site.

Get the girl rabbit back, let them have sex as nature intended and then sell the baby rabbits back to the pet store. Take note that after the female rabbit gets pregnant she will not want the male around and will fight with him if they are not put in separate cages.

He will be happier living by himself, if you give him attention. Rabbits are real breeders! Neutering a male is not that expensive, call your vet and have the give you the information. It will make him a healthier and happy rabbit even if he is raised alone. Honestly, rabbits are nice pets living single!

Are you sure it IS male? Rabbits (and other animals) no matter what sex, will try to hump to show dominance. My mom's female dog used to do it to the male cat... it is not sexual.
