LOL, they do, don't they! Customers like that are glad to chat, maybe a bit lonely too? I used to work in customer complaints, and often they'd go on at length about the problem, and then go away without even taking their refund!
It was a good thing really that they got to talk about the problem with someone from the store, not sounding off to other shoppers instead!
Looked at it like this; if you as the store's representative listen silently to all they have to say, they feel the problem has been well-handled, and they go off happy & satisfied that you are aware how it affected them.
But if you try cutting them short & giving a refund, they feel short-changed & badmouth the place. There's no real short-cut!
I guess the address thing comes from a neighborhood feel to the area when they were younger, and as they see it, where they live is part of who they are. It used to drive me mad as well, like I could afford to live where they lived, but of course they never think about that!

Not some of the pensioner I know, like the Chair and Leader of our County Council, or some of the Cabinet members on District Council.
Trouble is some folk just give up and wait to die after retiring, some after being made redundant, and they can have sod all to do all day, complaining about a faulty kettle may be the highlight of their day, apart, that is, from dismantling the kettle to connect live to the metal case and earth to the element!
So please treat old people with consideration, at the end of the day if they hit you no one will care yet if you hit them back it will be magistrates court before you can blink, and what age group do magistrates belong to, yes OAP

Interesting reply No.1!
Remember....you have just been wound up and agitated by your future self! You may well be the same one day. Inside, the 80 year old with the broken kettle probably feels 18 but is constantly at odds with what they see in the mirror and frustrated by their slowing down of thought and inability to communicate as quickly as they once could. They are probably desperately lonely and feel invisible to society too. Project yourself into the future to imagine how that may feel. They may take an age to tell their tales, but they have alot to teach us.........

You should try explaining how to do something on a computer!! Honestly no joke of a lie I tried for 45 mins to explain the concept of double clicking a mouse button and they still couldn't do it!! The best thing though is the granny emergency stop. Walking along then just turning in front of you and stopping dead, and giving you a look like you've just tried to rape them when you bump into them. Still you've got to love them, without them the world would have blue rinses!!

The older you grow, the more your mind has to remember.
Try asking for directions from a younger person, and see exactly how (not so) bright they are.
