Guys I am a published author and I have recently completed writing my second book which happens to be a touching romantic novel… Love thriving amidst harsh and impossible circumstances.. Story is based on a real life occurrence…. Unlike the first time, I do not wish to get my book published. Instead I want to sell it through the Internet for about $ 5 only and if someone wants to buy it, I can directly email her/ him the file containing my book. This way, instead of paying about $ 15, the buyer has to pay only $ 5 to read my book. Shipping and handling charges will be saved and also the expensive cost of book will be reduced by about 70%. Do you think my book stands a better chance of being read more (by this method)? Do you think this is a good idea????? If yes where all can I find readers for my book????? Would you be willing to buy my book at this price… a true story of tender love blossoming in the midst of harsh and oppressive circumstances?

Just look at what the guy just below typed. He is the perfect example of how foolish, petty and nasty some people on internet can get. Besides he stinks of plain jealousy. Tch tch
The truth is that I have written the book and its there and I will send it to whoever wishes to read it…

what was the name of the first book you wrote....was it 101 internet cons ......why would you want to sell it for a third of the price you would lose a lot of money, also how can we trust you to send us the book(if there is one) once we have sent you the money.Besides get your book published and get it in the book stores and probably because the book will be rubbish it will go straight to the 99cents/pence basket so we will save even more money....Good Luck....

Firstly, what book did you publish before and was it through a reputable publisher?

Secondly, if a book is worth reading, it should get reviews and other critiques so that people actually KNOW that it's good before they buy it.

Thirdly....a real book that you can hold in your hand is much more satisfying than a computer screen.

Fourthly, putting your book online isn't going to get you the reputation of being a good author. Anyone can put stuff on the internet, but it takes a good writer to have a book published through a good publisher.

And finally, like the person said above....you wouldn't make as much money. You're asking a third of what books actually sell for, and it only takes one person to download your book, and then redistribute it on the internet in a way that everyone can read it for free...that would scrap your plan for good.

So...it's a bad idea.

You can do this through www.lulu.com, which actually allows you to put your book up in multiple formats-- then, the people who want a hard copy can have that, and the folks that want a download can save the money.

As for finding readers, how did you do the marketing for your first book? Did you have a website, things like that? I hope you did some sort of marketing for yourself. Use those skills and build yourself a website and get the word out!

You do need to create a website for your book and besides, I think the Internet is a great alternative to bookstores. Congrats on your new book! Looking forward to hearing more about it!

i think that's a great idea i would love to buy all my books for $5
i think you should advertise on fan sites(ex: if you made a fantasy book, advertise on a harry potter site) or create a web site like(example names) romancenovels.com or yourname.com so that fans can easliy find you i would buy it, but i'm a teen and doubt i would like it sorry!
i prefer fantasy, but it sounds good!
good luck
