"15 minutes, 15 hours, inside the OR the best sergeants make time fly. Outside the OR, however, times takes pleasure in kicking our asses". That is how Meredith starts the third season of Grey's Anatomy with her running to the street outside the hospital and scenes of Richard alone the messy prom room, a shocked Addison in her trailer with Meredith's lost panties in her hands, and Izzie in her home's bathroom lying in the floor. The next morning, the guys outside the bathroom are calling for her to get out. And after they all agree that they have to do something about it, they look at Meredith which isn't really interested to go in is she's not familiar with this stuff like the others think, she's not "dark and twisty."

Another glimpse at Izzie and a trip to the past in a flashback that takes us back to the hospital party held to welcome the new SGH interns. The time where Izzie and Alex first meet. After a typical conversation between the two about the party going on, Alex asks Izzie what program she's on and after hearing "surgery" he apparently doesn't think that Izzie is up to the task, a thing that obviously pisses her off.

Back to the present, to Izzie's bathroom, George has finally gathered the guts to enter and talk to her, a thing she's really really not interested in so she tells him to stop talking, because there is nothing to talk about or discuss.

In the hospital, Danny's body has to be identified before being sent to Memphis, and they send Miranda for the task. After she's told that not funeral would be held, she leans above Danny's and says that she's very sorry.

Back at the house, Meredith and Cristina are in the kitchen and Meredith is making sandwiches because apparently "that's what they do when someone dies". Cristina explains that she's a Jew and she knows that when someone dies they hold a special dinner called "Sheva", and for that matter they have to order real cooked food and not sandwiches. Cristina later realizes that Meredith is hiding something and asks her about it, after sine hesitation Meredith replies "I lost my panties last night".

Back at Addison's, she apparently decided to wash the panties she secretly found with her husband's clothes and carefully contaminate it in a plastic back and takes it with her to work.

In the hospital a couple who passed an accident checks in and Derek has to handle it. They were apparently very sick with flu when the accident occurred and the wife who was driving the vehicle is seriously injured. The husband's flu starts to get more dangerous and he's transfered to a bed himself.

Alex has to deal with a serious situation, when new born is brought to the hospital after being found in a trash can at a high school. Alex cannot get help from the nurse as she's totally busy with all the flu cases flooding the hospital.

While Addison is checking on the new born we see that she has a connection to him especially when she hears that he's been dumped in a trash can.

Back at the house, Meredith and Cristina are discussing the thing that Meredith did with Derek and and Meredith's flashback takes us back to a day in park with little girl Meredith and her mother. While riding in the merry-go-round attraction, she spots her mother talking to a man, no other then Richard. She sees them fighting and her mom crying "You have to tell Adele. Richard you can't leave me" and Richard takes off with Meredith's mom still calling after him.

In the hospital, an angry Adele booked an appointment to talk to a very busy Richard when Miranda comes in and notifies him that the IDC is in the hospital and the couple who checked in earlier might have come in contact with a plague.

A bunch of parents arrive at the hospital with their four 14 years old high school daughters, and apparently one of these might be the mother of the baby but neither wants to confess to Addison the truth and she's concerned that the baby might die soon because of it.

In the lockers room, Derek and George are getting ready to take off when the IDC worker comes in and orders them to stay in the room as they performed a surgery in a plague patient and might have caught it too.

Omar, the husband which was involved in the car accident, is quarantined in his hospital room as he's also suspected to have caught the plague just like his wife. Miranda tries to keep him calm from the other side of the door and he asks her to keep him company.

Callie drops by the gang's house with bags of food and instantly tells Meredith that she's not gonna say a word of what she saw in the hospital.

In the bathroom, it's Cristina's turn with Izzie. She tells her that she must change that dress and that what she's doing is unhealthy. Izzie then asks her about "Sheva" and Cristina explains that it's something they do in honor of the dead but they stay 7 days without going to work, having and, like Izzie, no clean clothes, and goes on to tell her that what's going on with her doesn't have to be a "Sheva". Izzie then asks her how would she feel if she never got to see Burke again and decided that they're sitting "Sheva" for Danny.

Back in the hospital, the parents are fighting to weather their daughters has to pass a virginity test, and Addison tells them that they can't legally force their daughters to take such a test and that passing it might affect the patient severely. When the parents go on fighting again, an Addison's flashback takes us back to the stormy night where Derek found out about her affair with his best friend. Derek apparently kicked her out of his house throwing all of her clothes on the street under the rain and forcing her out of his door. He then lets her in again and tells her that he's the one who will go now as he cannot look at her anymore. While she wants to fix things he is totally not interested anymore.

In another flashback, this time of Cristina's, we are back to the intern party where she first met Burke, a doctor that she really admired. We learn that he had a girlfriend (or a wife?) with him at the party. Cristina approaches him to say hello but after that he totally ignores her. In the same party, we see Meredith and George chatting, however Meredith is not so interested with his life's story and keeps staring at Richard.

In the lockers room again, Derek tries to calm a very nervous George. He is worried that he has been infected with the plague and thinks he's gonna die. When he accidentally tells Derek that there's food in the lockers, Derek invades them and starts his feast with a bite of Alex's apple.

After Addison and Richard realizes that they're almost out of options with the 4 girls, they decide to use blood type tests to see which one of them is related to the baby.

Meredith and chef Callie are in the kitchen having a discussion about how Meredith is an avoiding person when Finn unexpectedly arrives and Meredith avoids him by saying that she gotta check on Izzie. Callie then explains to him that he should not take it personally because all doctors are socially retarded. And starts telling him about her sad story with George.

Now it's Meredith with Izzie, still on the bathroom floor. Izzie tells her that she feels she's living in slow motion everything around her is going very fast and all she wants is to go back to when things were still normal. Meredith then tells her that she's not alone and they strongly holds each other hands.

Again in the lockers room, George and Derek are discussing how Izzie is never coming back when Derek gets his own flashback, a one that takes us back to the night where he first met Meredith in a bar just one night before she started working in the hospital. She tried ignoring him at first but then we see things heating up a little between the two.

Addison and Alex are talking about how someone can throw their baby in a trash can and pretend that everything is fine the next day when blood type results finally arrive and two of the four girls and not a match.

Miranda visits Omar's door again, while he's feeling much better, she has some bad new to tell him - his wife has apparently died because the plague complicated her recovery process. Omar panics and Miranda tries to calm him down.

George is so in to the "we're gonna die" idea that he starts to panic and sweat, he even regrets not telling Callie that he loves her before he die. Regretting what he did with Meredith when they first met, Derek then tells him that he has to tell her before it's too late and someone else comes and takes her away.

Finn tells Meredith that despite the fact that he doesn't know what happened between her and Derek on prom night, he always agreed that their relationship is not exclusive but it does not mean that he's not pissed. On his way out of her house, he tells her to choose wisely as Derek is bad for her while he is good.

Adele, who has finally got her meeting with Richard, tells him that she's done waiting for him and he has to choose between her and his job, she asks him to retire.

Addison takes the two girls with the blood type matching the baby's and gives them a speech about right and wrong reminding them that a baby's life is in their hands, one of them finally ends up confessing that she's the mother.

In the lockers room the IDC worker finally comes in telling Derek and George that they're free to go.

When George and Derek arrive at the house, Callie hugs George and express how worried she was, and reminds him that she loves him a lot. Derek, expecting George to say it back, is disappointed when George just gives her a kiss and hugs her back. Derek enters the kitchen to find Meredith there, the smile at each other and then she asks him "What does this mean?". He tells her that he's in love with her and she has to make a choice, he also tells her to take her time in order not to make the mistake that he did in the past.

It's night, and back in the hospital Miranda is sitting alone in the dark (apparently still outside Omar's door), Richard tells Adele that he needs more time to think about the whole retirement things and she tells him that she has no more time and takes off. We finally find out what Addison wanted to do with the panties she found: Hang them in the hospital's messages board under "Lost and Found." Cristina shows up at Burke's hospital room and unexpectedly starts crying and asks him to never die. He replies "I'll do my best".

Izzie is still lying on the bathroom's floor. Her final flashback takes us again to the interns party where everybody is ready to leave and she says to George "Isn't it cool? Tomorrow we'll all be surgeons". She stands up from the floor and tells Meredith that she's ready and Meredith helps her take off the dress.

Denny died.

The interns went home where Izzie lay crying on the bathroom floor still in her prom dress.

Mc Dreamy performed a craneotomy and was ready to join then them when the Nazi told him a head trauma was on the way into the hospital.

The Interns try and get Meredith to go in and talk to Izzie because Meredith is dark and twisty. Meredith is think back to when she was a child and watched her mother break up with the chief while she sat on the carousel.

Instaed george tries but Izzie is not listening, She is thinking of the first time they all met at a mixer.

Meanwhile, the Nazi is having to sign Denny's body over to the mortuary. She is told there will be no funeral as Denny's family is having the remains sent back home. With that nes, theNazi whispers she is sorry to Denny and lets him go.

At Derek's camper Adison is folding up a clean pair of black ladies panties into a sandwich bag and sticking it in her purse.

Alex and George have to go back to work.

Meredith and Christina are in the kitchen as Meredith make sandwiches as comfort food. Christina says they should cook if they are going to sit shiva. Christina says she is Jewish and Izzie is Catholic, but seeing there will be no funeral shiva makes sense.

Alex, now at the hospital rushes into the the emergency room with a newborne telling the nurse to tell Addison to find him immediately that the baby will not die if he has anything to say about it.

Giselle the head trauma victim and her husband arrive at the hospital where Derek and George start to treat her when they become quite aware that her husband is very ill so theyy send him for blood cultures.

Back at the House, Meredith is now telling Christina that she slept with Mc Dreamy in an exam room, losing her panties and not knowing where this will all lead. Meredith is think back to when she met Derek at Tony's bar over drinks.

Addison, at the hospiatl is barking at Alex about the baby trying to figure out what she needs to do when she learns that this is a dumpster baby and Alex does not know who the baby's mother is. He must find out. Addison is remembering the night Derek caught her cheating and threw her out of the house.

Meanwhile the chief's wife has set up an appointment with him to tell him something, when in walks the Nazi to tell him that the couple in the accident show signs of the Bublonic pague. They have to take care of that.

Addison and Alex are now faced with four parents and four 14 yr old girls all of whom could be the mother. They can't do a vaginal exam without the girls' permission so they take blood and rule out two of them.

In the locker rooms, Derek and George are ready to go home when they are quarantined by the CDC.

Giselle's Husband is also quarantined and the Nazi is trying to get him to calm down with out being able to go into the room.

Christina is talking in the bathroom with Izzie about shiva nad about Denny and Burke, They are thinking back to that mixer again and how Alex thought Izzie would be in pediatrics, and how she wouldn't last a year while Christina was all over Burke telling him how much she respected his skill as a surgeon.

Derek and George start rummaging through the lockers looking for food and talking about the meredith and the Carla. George regrets telling Meredith he loved her and that is his problem with Carla. Derek regrets never telling Meredith he loved her.

At the House Carla and the Vet have arrived to help cook and be around for people. Carla tells meredith she won't say anything about the Hospital. The vet says he is willing to put his hat into the ring regardless.

At the Hospital, the Chief has been told by his wife that it is time for him to retire or she is leaving him. He needs to make up his mind. He is think back to when he was breaking up with Meredith's mother, what was said.

Meanwhile the Nazi has to tell the man his wife died of complications from the plague. She tells him to calm down there has been too much death as of late.

Addison take the two girls to see the baby and tells them the truth will come out sooner or later but the baby may die sooner than later. One of the girls says don't tell my mother.

CDC lets the boys out of quarantine so they can go home.

Addison and Alex operate on the baby saying that it is sad that the child's mother will probably be arrested and sent to juvenile detention. The truth always comes out.

The Boy's reach Meredith's house where Carla hugs george and tells him how worried she has been and that she loves him. All he does is kiss her. Derek notices this. He then talks to Meredith and tells her that he loves her and that she has a decision to make.

Later that evening Meredith helps Izzie out of her gown and the show ends.
