Whenever I think of those, I think of like a dark cafe with some guy playing a sax. This is probably incorrect, but I don't know the difference between these two.

jazz is up beat compared to the blues , the blues is slow and sad songs . jazz is faster tempo and not always about sadness. jazz has usually saxophones , blues usually just a guitar

Generally, jazz is WAY more complex & tough to play from the musician end.
Blues is more on the gutsy, sad side & has much more universal appeal.

The scales in jazz at large are more varied than in blues. Jazz can be almost anything. Blues tends to be pentatonic and variations of it.
