my experience with NK is from a year of sitting up on the DMZ with 1/9th Inf, later 506th in 84-85. His father was as much an idiot as the son. The son has an insatiable appitite for women and 'the glitzy life of hollywood or Koreanwood. He's faced with a mounting starvation problem within NK and economically he's cut himself off from the whole world. In terms of his missles, they are scuds and are notoriuosly inaccurate. Not to say it can't hit someone, but NK's arsenal of weapons probably pre-date Ghangis Khan, very antiquated. He also has a temper and flies off the handle alot. It's rumored through intel reports he doesn't sleep much and is alway on the go. Mnay of the old military reports regarding this key leader bring this point up time and time again. One key point that gave the world a sigh of relief, his father Kim IL Sung (sp?) once said before he died, he would in fact, reunite N+S Korea. The DMZ crosses roughly the 38th Parralel, howver, the entire peninsula is not gaurded. It's actually only gaurded in key points. The western side of the peninsula is gaurded by americas. Why? It's a straight shot to Seoul, and according to the rules of war, win the capitaol, win the war. He has amassed troops along this corridor called MSR 1. Intersting is the fact that the South Koreans CANNNOT go North of the IMJIM GAK river, only American soldiers. The South Korean soldiers who are stationed on the DMZ must be at least 6 ft tall. Why, actaully the physical size of NK's are small, so if you have to shoot someone, shoot the smallest guy. It's hard distinguish other wise. Operation Paul Bunyan....type in for a search. 2 American officers were killed by the North as they were cutting down a tree in the way of one of the American watch towers. All three branches were put into combat readiness to cut down this tree. There is only a cease-fire agreement between the two countries. The NK have a a villiage of building called "Freedom Village"...it's on the DMZ on the NK's side...BUT..these buildings only have 3 sides...no back, just a front and two sides.

Kim Yung IL is a politician whose lust for power is insatiable just like any other politician. The only difference being that he is hanging on to power when he should give it up for the good of his people.

Kashmir BTW is also a disputed region between Pakistan and India. It is considered as Switzerland of Asia.

He controls North Korea with an iron fist. All the food goes to his army & his cronies while the poor people in the country resorted to literally eating grass.

His economy is supported by China but mainly by printing & exporting counterfeit notes.

Only the privileged have access to proper medical care.

I think he is a very nice man for providing media attention away from president Bush's own problems. How many other countries can say they can do something very dumb, while at the same time the president did something worse. Go funny asian dude.

His policies have caused famine and the death of thousands of his unfortunate countrymen. His regime uses brutal and draconian means to stay in power. You can read about him here:
