If southerns are Rebels and Northerns are yankees what are the eastern and western?

Dude we don't have easterns and westerns but i guess they are called earterns and westerns.

I believe they actually called the Southern States that were allied during the civil war the Confederate States and therefore anyone alllied with them was a "confederate". They had their own seat of government and wanted to separate from the rest of the country. And the Northern Alliance including the seat of government was called the Union. During the revolutionary war, the "rebels" were the ones fighting against Britain for a new sovereign nation.

First of all, people from the South are not Rebels.....that was a name used during the Civil War.....that has been over a long time ago....even then not all were called Rebels! We are all Americans from different parts of the country. Different areas sometimes defind the people from a certain part....i.e. Midwestern, New Englander, Southerner, etc. I perfer to use the name of the State or City a person comes from, like my friend Jane, she is from California, not a Westerner!

I am from California, so I am way west... we natives (those of us born here) call everyplace east of California.. Back East. That's because our parents or grandparents would have to go "back" to their original home... and it almost was always East. Actually, although most of our nation considers California the land of Fruits and Nuts, we consider anyone not in California... Unlucky!
Since the East and the West never fought, we are labled more by territories or profession or the like than by a name...Pacific North west I am sure has their pet names as do the South west, mid west, New England areas, Hawaii, and Alaska...

for being spared such a horrific war.
