my acne started small time when i was 12 and would come and go. i used proactive and it worked ok.
by the time i was barely 15 my face started getting severe outbreaks. (not from the proactive) and all over the counter acne treatments didnt work.
it only got worse until now that i am 17.
the only thing that helped was a certified dermitologist in TJ, Mexico. I take acne pills and they work the best so far.
the doctors in USA would only give me cheap treatments. and everytime it would fail they would just give me another cheap one.
If your acne isnt bad than just get somethin like proactive and clean your face stricly like it says in the instructions. or else it wont work.
If your acne is getting really bad, than go see a doctor soon before your face gets damaged with craters and scars like mine.
good luck

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots
Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

I know exactly how you feel. I too had acne. Most people use proactive and they say it works realy well. I don't though because it is too expensive for me, so I started trying different types of acne treatment from stores.
The acne treatment that I found works wonders is this $1.00 treatment from walmart. Ok, I know it sounds cheap, but it works! It is called "Equate, Medicated Acne Gel". I suggest on getting the maximum strength. Now put this on once a day because it is strong. I suggest to put it on before you go to bed. Then when you wake up you can use "Pond's, cool, calm, and perfected". This shrinks your pores and tones your skin. It will remove excess surface oil.
When you used the medicated Acne Gel before you go to bed put dabs of it on your acne rather than rubbing it in. Trust me I know from experience. The next day the places where you placed it on should be less visisble. If your face starts getting too dry because of it, then use it every other day.

First try this- stop drinking soda or juice for awhile, stick to just water or tea or mineral water. Stop eating anything sugary, salty,
or fatty. Eat lots of vegetables, and fruit. But most important,
drink 8 or9 glasses of water a day.
Then make sure if you have longer hair you tie it back. First
thing in the morning wash your face with warm water and a
washcloth. Once in the middle of the day and once before
bed. Make sure you change your pillowcase every other day.
Try that for at least two weeks, if you don't notice a difference
try pro-active after that.

If you have $40 you can get pro-active & it's mild if you have sensative skin. I had mild acne and that stuff cleared my face. Now when I look in the mirror I like what I see:)
