Here's why, but I welcome other answers:
1.400,000 people worked on the American manned space program leading up to the moon missions – how do you fool all these technical people?
2.There were 27 manned missions from 1961 to 1972. 6 Mercury missions, 10 Gemini missions, and 11 Apollo missions.
3.Four Apollo manned missions preceded the moon landings, with 3 of them actually going to and orbiting the moon.
4.Why can’t we do it now? – quite simply, there is no Saturn V rocket. It needed the phenomenal power of this giant 360 foot rocket to get a manned probe beyond Earth’s orbit.
5.What happened to the Apollo? – read the history. Americans were wholly caught up in the Vietnam war, with massive and violent demonstrations going on. People saw the space program as a huge waste of money when there were so many social and international problems to attend to.
6.Apollos 18-20 were cancelled because of lack of taxpayer interest.

7.There would be no use for the Saturn V booster any more. It is not needed for putting men in orbit, or for sending relatively light unmanned probes to the planets.
Please read the history all you people who deny the moon landings. It is just the absolute height of ignorance to have an opinion on this without knowing the history. Also, it is a gross insult to all those who worked tirelessly to make happen the most fanstastic voyage of discovery ever.

The fact is, the Apollo missions were cancelled basically because of the fickleness of the public, made up of the same fickle people who are spreading this ignorant nonsense about the moon landings being faked.

People like to find a conspiracy in everything. I still can't believe some people don't believe that plants hit the towers in 9/11, instead believing bombs and missiles were involved. Despite the fact that it was caught live on TV and there were tons of eyewitnesses. Some people will just choose to live in their delusional worlds that have no bases in reality.
Oh yeah and you always get some crazy "expert" scientist who will back up the claims of these whackos. I've seen the scientist who believe that the moon landing was a fraud. It's ridiculous.

Given that so many people were involved it would be impossible for a fake moon landing to have been kept a secret all these years. I read somewhere that it would have been easier to go ahead and actually do it. The reason why there is no moon base today can be summed up in one word or should I say name. Richard Nixon. The Apollo program suffered from the "not invented here" syndrome. That administration was happy to bask in the glory of the moon landings but face it, that program was a Kennedy-Johnson project. The moon landings were accomplished on the very edge of the 60s technology. Those men were in danger every minute of those flights if the right system failed despite tripple redundancy. Chris Kraft was happy to see it all end because of this. The cost of the Vietnam war was certainly a factor but NASA did it, made it look easy, and put the public to sleep in the process. They're still doing it. Has anybody tried to watch NASA TV? I remember watching one of the Apollo moon walks live on daytime TV and it was actually interupted for a commercial. The shuttle was fun and it was great to see a winged vehicle in orbit. It was so 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY but the system was a means to go nowhere. It was decided that a space station should be built in order to eliminate that problem. It's really funny when you think about it but Werner Von Braun saw a space station as the first step to going to the moon. We've been doing it all backwards.

I have lived in Florida all my life and have visited the Space Center many, many times. I was in 3rd grade in Tampa Florida and all of the t.v.s in the classrooms were turned on as we watched Niel Armstrong take those famous fist steps on the moon.
Part of the blame can be blamed on the Television and Newspaper Industries too. They became afraid that no one would watch the moon landing anymore so they stopped carrying them live. They did not cover the launches either. That is why when Apollo 13 happened no one knew about it at first. The t.v. stations didn't even cover Apollo 13 until the explosion happened. Then they sensationalized it to the hilt as they always do.
I agree with you and wonder why all these people think it didn't happen.

There are websites which answer all the claims of the hoax people.
But here are two to add to your list.
The spacecraft was (and could be) tracked by radio telescopes receiving the signals. I suppose the hoaxers could say we just sent a radio.
NASA was pretty good. They created fake moon rocks which fooled all the geologists worldwide that exhaustively analyzed them (not).
If this was a conspiracy it was the greatest conspiracy ever done. Doing it would be harder than....
going to the moon.

because if you look at the moon through a telescope, you can clearly see the American flag.

You have it pretty well covered, so I won't try to add anything. I may copy this and show it to some people who love wild conspiracy theories, especially if they make scientists look sinister and foolish. e.g. my oldest sister.
