I plan on having a child in the near future and I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for me about working from home. I am computer literate and have alot of job experience. I need help. Right now I work far from home and spend at least 12 hours a day away from my home. I want to be able to take care of my baby.

My response is this NO, why should you not be paid...they booked you for that allotted time. You are providing a service and you have set that time aside for them...if they come home early this is not your fault. Here is an example...do you think a professional Dog Sitting company would allow people to pay what they felt was appropriate just because they picked up their dog early...the answer is NO. The people make an appointment with the Dog Sitting Service say from 8am to 5pm, drop off their dog and are to pick the dog up at 5pm, if they pick up the dog at 4 that is not the problem of the Dog Sitting place, and the Dog Sitting place would still be paid in full for the service as agreed. In my opinion once the time is booked it is looked at as a verbal contract and you should be paid as per the time requested for your services. Maybe you need to look at writing up a contract of sorts and have the parents sign, in order to protect yourself. It sounds to me like you are being treated as just another babysitter and if that is the type of service they want then the parents need to hire the local teenage girl next door.
